2010  BLOG

June 28, 2010 Horses are doing well and enjoying the fresh grass.  We have been having some problems with our turkey eggs and getting some turkeys to hatch. Hopefully we can figure out what is going on and get some hatched before the gals are done laying.

April 24, 2010 Max has went to his new home. I am sure he will be well loved and taken care of.  He went in the pasture like he was always there and rolled and introduced to the other boys and seemed to enjoy it.

April 16, 2010 Rosie had her baby. A dream come true. Beautiful buckskin pinto with 2 blue eyes. Now just to think of a name. Both mom and baby doing well. Daddy is proud as well.

April 10,2010 Zafire's first day in harness. She did excellent ground driving. Rosie still holding on.   We got a photo of zevy with Buddy. He is such a cutie pie.

April 7, 2010 Still no foal. Rosie is doing well. She got a full out body treatment tonight. Washed her tail and braided it along with her mane and a total grooming with tidying up her ears and feet.  She really loved her belly getting scratched.

April 4, 2010 Still no foal. :( Rosie is doing well. We had Zevy out today and brushed him up a bit to get some video footage of him.  I am planning to get that uploaded some time this week.  It was Duchess first time ground driving today and she did quite well. We are really impressed with this young lady.   Hopefully she'll be Darren's driving/show horse this summer.   The Easter Bunny bought more good weather which was nice.

March 31, 2010  No foal yet. Rosie's udder is huge so we are keeping a close watch.  I keep thinking it is May with the weather we are having and keep thinking next month is June but it is not.

March 30, 2010:

Quick updates. In 2009 we got married!  We also now have high speed which will make it much easier for updating the web site.  YIPPIE!!! We currently have 9 wonderful horses of which we have to try to reduce the herd. At least that is what my husband has told me. And yes I guess I do. Working full time while attempting to look after a house and 9 horses while attempting to have a life is not just what it cut out to be.  So, with that being said I have updated my sales page if you are interested and if you are interested in a horse that you just MUST have please let me know as we may be persuaded to part with. Actually my husband would say take it quick. lol

I rode Max on the week-end and Duke (our 4 year old) was quite jealous. I didn't realize how jealous they got. Max even seemed to throughly enjoy taking me for a ride. He is a good old boy that I really don't want to part with but if I am to get the goal of reducing some horses then he is looking for a new home. Good home only with references required. He just LOVES human attention and I am sure if you could teach him to do a cart wheel he would.  He loves to please. Just a sweetie. Anyway, Duke was sooky when I left the barn with Max and left him in. Duke is going to be broke this year for riding and later for cart as well.

We currently have wild turkeys and some kakhi campbell ducks which we will be hatching some eggs and taking orders for eggs and day olds. The tom turkey doesn't like me very much but ladies will eat out of my hand. One of them actually is asking for food if I go in at times other than feeding and of course I have to feed her.

Mary Gallant at M & M Lucky hooves is doing excellent work with minis and special needs people and seniors. Check out her site. Rosie was assisting in the fall and now she is back home to get ready for mother hood. She is bagging up quite well and should be foaling any day now. We're getting excited about her foal.  Of course again with having too many horses another foal is not what my husband wants to hear about so either her or the foal will have to go if not both.

Another big change to mention is that we are debating about gelding K-Boy. If he is gelded he can run with his daughters and we won't need to worry about more babies and he can have a fun retirement. Kids will be able to use him as well. He is 20 this year but still acts like a 3 year old. He is great with kids but if there are any Mares around his hormones kick in.

Well I guess that will be it for now. I hope to get on here regularly with updates of the farm life. I am off to feed the critters.
